The One With The Catchy Title

After the last post I didn’t end up doing much besides watching Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom before going to sleep around 2am-ish. It does feel good to be sleeping at night when I’m supposed to be, so far so good!

07April2005 – Thursday

Thursday I woke up right before class and threw on some clothes, brushed my teeth, and snuck into the back of class a little late. We had a guest lecturer who lectured about philosophy and its connection to everything we’ve been studying so far and I found it extremely interesting. This guy had my complete attention the entire class which is only slightly peculiar. (I do try to be interested, I assure you.) After that class was lunch and then after lunch we were supposed to have a group picture, but instead there were at least 5-10 people not here and it was postponed till next Tuesday. I found out during lunch that if you blow your nose and everything that comes out is bright green that that means you have a sinus infection. Somehow I was unaware of this although it is apparently quite common knowledge. Well I have been blowing bright green for at least 2 and a half weeks now, so I figured sinus infection might be a good reason to go to the doctor. So I made the proper arrangements after lunch and then took a nap till it was time for studio. I got up right when class starts because I doubted it would matter if I was late, and as I expected, I was the first one there and class didn’t start till around 3:45pm. So we “discussed” the next phase of our project, and by “discussed” I do mean argue. Finally some terms and conditions were agreed upon by all, and when I had to leave to go to the doctor things were beginning to get ironed out by the class. So I left because I had to and made my way to the doctor’s office, which really isn’t that far from the center, where I proceeded to wait for about an hour and a half for a 10 minute examination by a doctor who spoke almost no English and I’m hoping was able to accurately diagnose my problem. So 30 Euro later I walked away with 5 days worth of sample drugs and a prescription for what I think is cough syrup. When I got back I decided to get online and do random little odds and ends such as writing an e-mail and checking e-mail. Not too long after it was time for dinner and I went to eat. However my stomach wasn’t feeling quite up to par and after a piece of bread and a plate of pasta I was finished well before the main course. So I retired to my room where I decided to get my laptop and go downstairs to get online – gotta beat the after dinner crowd. Well I ended up being online for the remainder of the night and afterwards I went upstairs and watched Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade to round out my Indiana Jones marathon before going to sleep around 4am.

08April2005 – Friday

I am afraid there isn’t much to report today although I have been somewhat productive. I woke up right before lunch and straggled downstairs for it. We have been having a bit of trouble sleeping as of late because for the last week, and what appears to be for the remainder of our stay at this point, some workers have been busy digging up the street outside the center and there is an extremely large, extremely loud, compressor that is parked right under our window that serves some purpose to them. Anyway, so I ate lunch and had pleasant conversation then after those of that remain at the center this weekend (somehow there aren’t many) made our way to the computer lab where we all fiddled about for a few hours. When I left Daniel and I had booked our hostel for next weekend and a trip we are planning. We are going to something called Cinque Terre (chink-wa terray) that I don’t really know how to describe. Daniel said it’s similar to the French Riviera but I’m not sure that is quite accurate. Basically there are a group of islands with nice sandy beaches and lots of hiking trails that we are going to be lounging about on for 2 days relaxing in the sun and playing at the beach. Daniel plans to do some hiking, but I think I may just stay on the beach; I miss the beach something terrible. So anyway that is our grand master plan for next weekend which also happens to be JereBeth’s Birthday on Saturday. It bums me out to not be able to be there with her when she turns 20, but I’ll be celebrating with her in spirit while I bask in the sun I suppose… Just for those of you wondering, this whole thing was Daniel’s idea and I was very much peer-pressured into it, lol! Darn my friends! After I left the lab I ran into Marcel and had him fill me in on what I had missed yesterday in studio and he obliged. We discussed the project and I feel pretty confident in my knowledge of what’s expected of me for Monday. So after I discussed those things with him, he left, and I decided I may as well get started. So I worked for a couple of hours on some things and then about an hour ago I decided to take a break and work on the old journal here. Right now it’s about 7:15pm and I would be getting ready for dinner except that tonight they aren’t serving dinner and instead are serving it tomorrow. (It’s a long story and really insignificant so don’t worry much please.) So instead a group of us are going to go eat dinner tonight at Regiro’s somewhere around 8. After dinner I’m not sure what I’ll do, but I feel a movie of some kind will most likely be involved, and possibly some online time. Well that is all for now, I’ve very much enjoyed all of the e-mails everyone has been sending (I’ve gotten 5 so far this week!) and the comments left on my journal. I knew you guys could figure that one out, lol! Keep ‘em coming because it looks to be a long weekend. I was planning to go to Florence and maybe do a little souvenir shopping tomorrow, but I just checked my bank account and with next weekend’s trip coming up and the state it is in now, I don’t think ill be doing much shopping at all, lol! I’m not worried though, I’m sure everything will be fine. I’m actually pretty proud of myself for having made it to the very last 4 weeks without any money problems. That’s really all I have, so Ciao!
